EcoFactory at London Design Festival

We would just like to take this opportunity to tell you about our work at this year's London Design Festival. This year, the festival takes place between the eighteenth and twenty sixth of September, and in conjunction with our partners, TRAID, who will be running their famous Sew Good workshops and Contemporary Applied Arts, we will be running a series of Co-Designing workshops.

Annie Sherburne
, an internationally renowned designer who has work on display in The Louvre and the Rockerfeller Center in New York, is the founder of EcoFactory, and she invites us all to share her vision.

EcoFactory aims to create an ideal of Heaven on Earth, with our fabulous gipsy caravan being towed around London, we aim to re-create all the magic of your childhood, taking you into a perfect dream state.

The Co-Designing workshops will encourage members of the public to bring old or unwanted garments to the workshops and have them re-designed by the biggest names in UK design, as well as the finest in new, young design talent. Annie has put together a fantastic collective of young designers, including the exceptionally talented Hannah Jefferies, winner of the 2008 Textprint Print Prize

EcoFactory's vision is to ensure that members of the public can create new garments out of old ones, therefore recycling and recreating new garments and designs we can love forever. As well as securing employment for UK fashion and design graduates.

An Introduction To EcoFactory

Hi there,

Thanks for stopping by.

EcoFactory is a brand new Co-Designing Initiative from internationally renowned designer Annie Sherburne. We have a wonderful gipsy caravan, which has been lovingly painted by Annie and her amazing collective of exceptionally talented young artists and designers, which will be towed around London using eco friendly methods of transportation.

At this year's London Design Festival, Secret Garden Party and the Vintage at Goodwood festvial, EcoFactory will be holding co-designing workshops allowing members of the public to bring along old garments of theirs and have the opportunity to work with top designers giving their clothes a new lease of life.

Working with our partners TRAID who will be hosting their legendary Sew Good workshops, and Contemporary Applied Arts. EcoFactory will be teaching people the skills required to design their own clothing, even if they have no previous experience.

All participants at the Co‐Designing workshops are contributing their unique
creativity in experimenting with a new model of environmentally friendly
designing, which demonstrating by using talents and gifts given to us, we can
find solutions to stimulate new vibrancy in the economy. For example, the reintroduction
of horses as a part of carbon neutral transport alternatives. .
Another example is offering alternatives to the enjoyment of the shopping
experience, where we can develop ideas to transform what we already have in a
fun, useful and stylish way, instead of relying more and more of the plants swiftly
diminishing resources.

This is not recycling, it's re-creation.

Thanks for reading.
